• What is Reiki?

Reiki, an ancient energy healing modality, serves as a powerful tool for promoting healing, stress reduction, and relaxation. In the hands of a skilled practitioner, Reiki taps into the concept of "life force energy," amplifying it within the client and alleviating the weight and burdens carried through life. This practice fosters balance, clarity, and grounds individuals in the present moment.

Despite its spiritual essence, Reiki is not a religious practice. It lacks dogma, and there are no specific beliefs required to receive its benefits. Reiki operates independently of one's belief system and is effective regardless of personal beliefs.

Derived from the Universal life force energy or God, Reiki often enables individuals to deeply connect with their religious beliefs, moving beyond intellectual understanding to a profound experiential level.

  • Dr. Mikao Usui

In the 1920’s Reiki was rediscovered by Grandmaster and founder Dr. Mikao Usui, but has been in practice for thousands of years. He called this form of healing Reiki.

The tradition was passed down to 2nd Grandmaster Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, a retired naval officer. He received the Reiki Master initiation from Usui in 1925. It was the 3rd Grandmaster, Hawayo Hiromi Takata, who brought Reiki to the western world (she practiced in Hawaii). Before Takata passed away on December 11, 1980, she initiated 22 Reiki Masters.

How to prepare for and recover from your Reiki Session?

Before Your Reiki Session: Ensure your comfort by wearing loose, comfortable clothing as you'll be lying down for the majority of your session. Consider bringing or wearing socks since shoes are removed during the session, and your feet may get cold. Hydrate beforehand to facilitate the energy shift; staying hydrated is essential. Use the restroom before the session begins. If you feel any discomfort during the session, communicate this with Ellie so she can adjust accordingly and ensure your relaxation.

After Your Reiki Session: Replenish your body by hydrating after your session; aim for 1-2 glasses of water. Adding electrolytes to your water can further aid in replenishing the body's energy. Take some time to reflect after the session; journaling, drawing, or any other form of expression can help capture insights gained during the experience. Consider meditation or listening to calming music to deepen your connection with the session's effects. Engage in activities that allow you to connect with your experience, enabling you to draw upon it for future growth and well-being.
